Privacy Policy
How we collect, use, and protect the personal information of the students, parents, and teachers who use our online Quran academy.
Template notice — please have this reviewed by a lawyer
This policy is a general template, not legal advice. Before the site handles real customer data, the operator must have it reviewed by a qualified legal professional and confirm that it reflects what the academy actually does.
Who we are and what this policy covers
Last updated: 26 July 2026
My Quran Tutor Live (“we”, “us”, “our”) is an online Quran academy connecting students with qualified teachers for live, one-to-one video classes. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with, and what rights you have over it. It covers our website and the accounts inside it, but not other sites we link to.
The organisation responsible for your information is [Add your registered business name] of [Add your registered business address]. If anything is unclear, email admin@myqurantutorlive.com.
What information we collect
We collect only what we need to teach you, take payment, and keep the site working.
Information you give us
- Your name, email address, and password.
- Student details: age, reading level, and goals — reading fluently, say, or memorising the Quran.
- Scheduling preferences and your time zone.
- Messages sent through our contact form, which we store so we can reply.
- For teachers: your profile, qualifications, and the progress reports you write.
Information collected automatically
Google Analytics 4 and Vercel Analytics record your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit, and how you found us — which helps us recognise what to improve.
Payment information
Payments are handled entirely by Stripe. Your card details never touch our servers or our database. We store only a Stripe customer reference and your subscription status.
How we use your information
We use the information above to:
- Create and manage your account.
- Match a student with a suitable teacher and schedule lessons.
- Run your live classes and let teachers record monthly progress reports.
- Take payment and manage your subscription through Stripe.
- Send service emails such as sign-up confirmations and password resets.
- Reply to your enquiries.
- Improve the website and keep accounts secure.
We do not make automated decisions about you, and we send marketing emails only if you ask.
Children’s privacy
Many of our students are children, so this section matters more here than on most sites.
- Accounts belong to adults. An account must be created and managed by a parent or legal guardian. Children do not sign up themselves or hold payment details.
- Parental consent. By booking classes for a child, the parent consents to that child taking part in live one-to-one lessons, and to us processing the child’s information to teach them.
- What we hold. Usually only a name, age, reading level, schedule, and the teacher’s progress reports — nothing the lesson does not require.
- Parents stay in control. A parent may ask at any time to see their child’s information, correct it, or have it deleted — email admin@myqurantutorlive.com from the address on the account.
If you believe a child gave us information without a parent’s involvement, contact us and we will delete it.
Who we share your information with
We do not sell your personal data or share it with advertisers. We share only what is necessary with the providers behind our service:
- Vercel — hosts the website and provides visitor analytics.
- Supabase — our database and login system, holding accounts, profiles, bookings, progress reports, and contact-form messages.
- Stripe — card payments and subscriptions.
- Google Analytics 4 — visitor numbers and popular pages.
We also share what a lesson requires with your assigned teacher: the student’s name, age, level, schedule, and progress notes. Otherwise we disclose information only where the law requires it, or to protect a student.
International transfers
Our students, teachers, and providers are spread across the world, so your information may be stored or processed outside your own country — including outside the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area, or the United States. Wherever it goes, we expect the same standard of protection, and work only with established providers offering recognised safeguards for international transfers.
How long we keep your information
We keep information only while we have a reason to:
- Account and student details — while your account is active, and a reasonable period afterwards.
- Progress reports and class history — while you study with us.
- Payment records — as long as tax and accounting rules require. [Confirm the retention period required in your country]
- Contact-form messages — until your enquiry is resolved.
- Analytics data — aggregated, so it no longer identifies you.
After that we delete it, or strip out anything that identifies you.
Your rights over your information
Depending on where you live, you have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the information we hold about you.
- Have anything inaccurate corrected.
- Ask us to delete it.
- Object to, or restrict, certain uses of it.
- Withdraw consent at any time.
- Receive your information in a portable format.
In the UK and the European Union these rights come from the UK and EU GDPR. In California they come from the CCPA, which also means we cannot treat you differently for asking. We do not sell personal information.
To use any right, email admin@myqurantutorlive.com. We aim to reply within one month, and a parent may ask on behalf of their child. If our answer does not satisfy you, you may complain to your country’s data protection regulator. [Add your supervisory authority and registration details, if you have them]
Cookies
Cookies are small files a website stores on your device. We use two kinds:
- Essential cookies — these keep you signed in and your session secure. The site cannot work without them.
- Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics to count visits and show which pages people read.
Your browser settings let you block or delete cookies, though blocking the essential ones means you cannot sign in or attend a class.
How we protect your information
Traffic between your device and our site travels over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Passwords are stored in hashed form by our authentication provider, never as plain text. Access to student records is limited to your teacher and the staff running the academy, and card details sit with Stripe rather than with us.
We should be honest, though: no online service is ever completely secure. If a breach affected your information, we would tell you and the relevant authority as the law requires.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the academy grows or the law changes. When we do, we will change the “last updated” date at the top of this page, and email account holders before any change that materially affects how we use your information. Using the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
How to contact us
For any question about this policy, or to ask for a copy of your information or have it deleted:
- Email: admin@myqurantutorlive.com
- Contact form: our contact page
- Postal address: [Add your registered business address]
- Registered organisation: [Add your registered business name and company number, if you have one]
Please read this alongside our Terms of Service.
